About Chancellor Place

The Chancellor Place neighbourhood is a partnership between the university and its four theological colleges and community. It’s located at the north-east campus boundary near Chancellor Boulevard, Westbrook Mall & Walter Gage Road, with the Gage Residences to the south and Allard School of Law to the west. Home to the historic, granite-clad Iona Building, Chancellor Place has a total of 975 residential units, 470 are sold as market leasehold, 155 are rental and 350 units are garnered for student housing.

Life-Long Learning

The spirit of education at the Chancellor Place neighbourhood begins with St. Mark’s, St. Andrew’s, Carey Hall & the Vancouver School of Theology right at your doorstep. For families, students can engage in life-long learning with on campus pre-school, kindergarten, elementary and a top provincial secondary school close by. There’s Norma Rose Point School with grades K to 8, and University Hill Secondary School with grades 8 to 12 and the only school in all of Vancouver to offer the TESSI program (Technology Enhanced Secondary Science Instruction). In addition, there’s University Hill Pre-School, Magnussen School with K to 7 and the Berwick Child Development Centre.

World-class recreation

As a Chancellor Place resident, you’re on the doorstep to Pacific Spirit Park - dog walking heaven with over 54 km of trails. Take advantage of the UBC Aquatic Centre, the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sport Centre - a 2010 Olympic venue and the UBC Tennis Centre. For culture there’s Chan Centre and the Arthur Erickson designed Museum of Anthropology. Enhanced open and green areas in Chancellor Place include Theology Mall, Iona Woods & Iona Green. Enjoy a pedestrian experience on campus in a traffic calmed neighbourhood with streets that connect to nearby attractions. Last but not least, UBC Golf Course is a classic 18 hole track, open to the public with excellent club house facilities.

The modern miracle of living on the university endowment lands at Chancellor Place means you can shop local. Minutes away are numerous shops, services & restaurants. Top retailers include Save-on-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, RBC & BC Liquor Store. Wesbrook Village is home to cafes, medical offices or professional dry cleaning. You’ll find over 25 shops and services at Wesbrook Village. For great eats or take-out, local restaurants include Neptune Chinese Kitchen 鳳鳴粥麵, Doughgirls Comfort Kitchen & Bake Shop or Biercraft with more than 120 craft beers in-house. Getting There

The sought after Chancellor Place neighbourhood on the UBC campus is approximately 20 minutes from Vancouver International Airport, only 15 minutes to designer shops on South Granville Street and about 20 to 25 minutes across a bridge to downtown. BC Transit has excellent service to the campus with bus service every 4 minutes during peak hours. Plans are in the works to extend rapid transit to the university from Arbutus Station. By vehicle, UBC is easily accessed via 4th, 10th or 41st Avenue arterial routes in the city.
